I got the latest Frost catalogue yesterday, and that has a hole swager in it. They also had step drills in Aldi last week and I nearly bought one, but I've no idea why. I think a swaged hole or two in a 2cv quarter panel might be nice, like an old Buick.

Not in the 1/4 panels, get with the fashion man. You want a line of 25mm holes across the bottom of the bootlid, a set of holes across the front numberplate panel, starting with two 45mm in the middle, a 38mm each side of that and outermost two 25mm holes. Probably the entire front bumper from side to side, possibly with slightly larger holes in the centre section between the over riders, replace the vent flap with an ally blank and slap holes all the way across that, ally roof with holes across the top of the rear window, cut the rear number plate panel and rear chassis legs off, make a Diffuser between the rear lights and make it out of polished ally and perforate that bastard too. This shit is the future.

Ive got some diamond core cutters you could do some in the widscreen (laminated) swaging might be tricky.

I'm getting it now, you could start with those, but then you need to run with it. How about placing a ping-pong ball behind each of those swage holes and glueing a red LED in each ball. Then, with a flick of a switch, at night you would have full width glowing swages as rear lights.

Or what about swaged wheels, would that work? You could experiment with different hole sizes and spacings, or if not - swaged hub caps. :P They might even make a cool noise on the go, as the wind goes over them, something like blowing in the top of an empty bottle.

Or... random 9mm swaged holes, painted silver - as bullet holes, for that "iIve been to Salford" look. You could invent 'Manc' chic'. 8-)

James I read through your 2cv thread and after the re-chassis your car is looking fine. Put that Frost catalogue down, you live too far away from Manchester to wear the 'bullet holes' one convincingly anyway. Swaged hubcaps that play eerie tunes however, well that might be just the thing to annoy those neighbours you don't care for.

My white Spesh had a swaged roof when I bought it. Wouldn't recommend.

That's 'cause you didn't have the matching swaged floor drains - keep up Smiffy!

Wot, so... you mean.... shit! I could have saved £150 just by swaging my floor. Now you mention it, it seems so obvious!

Thinking about it, if I swaged my air-inlet flap I wouldn't have to waste time opening it.

Ain't that always the way! :D

Speaking of the obvious, I just received another letter. It seems those council guys with the electric clipboards went away and got their mad up. I can tell they got their mad up because on the envelope marked in bold upper case it says THIS IS NOT A CIRCULAR. I read that and thought "Umm...Ok"

Isn't that a strange approach? To send me a letter telling me what it isn't. That's like saying 'This is not a Banana.' There's a good chance I might have worked that out for myself, but just in case....

Wouldn't it be more productive to tell you what the letter is, rather than what it isn't? Up to now all I know is that it 'isn't a circular', which doesn't even pique my interest enough for me to want to open it. And anyway, I think they are lying. My guess is it's another electoral role form (in RED) that they want me to fill in and send back.

One thing puzzles me about that, as the envelope also has the council (return) address on the back. Now call me old fashioned, but it used to be that if someone sends you something which you fill in and send back, that thing was said to have gone 'full circle'. It doesn't really get much more 'circular' than a full circle, so - hey! Maybe they lied to me? And if they were going to lie to me, they could have got a little more inventive with the lie. If the envelope had printed on it 'FREE BEER TOKEN INSIDE' then at least I would have opened it.

I'm really enjoying middle age, I seem to get more intransigent with every day that passes, can't wait 'till I'm old - I'll be a nightmare. :D
