How angry does it make you James? Angrier than say... an MP on £80,000 pounds a year plus another £100,000 in expenses, claiming the back bedroom of her sisters house was her 'main home' in order to screw the system for even more cash?

When those type of people are our supposed role models, and attach to themselves grandiose titles such as 'right honourable' there's obviously something wrong. The nation is full of chancers, but what you see around you is just small beer compared to what is going on higher up the tree.

The only difference is the amount being pocketed, and the public perception of the wrongdoer. A looter went to jail recently for stealing a bottle of water, yet Jaqui Smith get's no charges brought for stealing £100,000k + she is given a job on TV, and her own newspaper column.

Now I got to thinking. In medical terminology, 'Severe' and 'Acute' mean the exactly the same thing, so why would the government call that epidemic 'severe-acute'... it just doesn't make sense. Then I realised what it was. If they had named it correctly, it would have been an Acute respiratory syndrome epidemic, or A.R.S.E.

Do you think I'm on to something?

Hahah, I wish they called it A.R.S.E.
As regards to Severe and Acute, I thought severe can be used to describe anything as being bad (in my head). But I think acute is a combination of severity and amount of time (in the case or a virus or infection anyway) so if it was acute respiratory syndrome it would refer to it being a short term thing. I'm just thinking of it in the same way as radiation poisoning etc.

Not to ignore the joke, which did make me laugh, severe and acute certainly do not mean the same thing. One would be forgiven for thinking so however with the number of times journalists get it wrong.

Acute means rapid in onset (and normally at least, rapid in resolution), one can have an acute rhinitis in which the nose will piss snot but its certainly not a severe illness. Thats not to say that acute and severe cannot go hand in hand, for instance acute respiratory distress syndrome is certainly rather nasty. An acute pancreatitis may well land you in ITU for three months with its complications, but the pancreatitis itself will be a self limiting event (of the pancreas essentially exploding and attempting to digest everything inside your abdomen). After a week and a bit whats left of the pancreas is just rotting tissue.

In essence acute = sudden (though not necessarily nasty), chronic = long term (and not necessarily any nicer).

Eg acute constipation after a psychotic pickled egg binge, vs chronic constipation due to long term opiate use.

There isn't really that much you can do about it on your own. The only lawful thing is to withdraw consent, simply refuse to play the game.

I'm currently having an amusing exchange with my local council. They tell me that I have to fill in their form and register to vote. I tell them that I don't want to. I decided not to because I don't believe that any of the gobshites I might vote for are acting in my interest, as was recently exposed when they all clubbed together to deny us a democratic referendum on Europe. So if the register exists simply to allow me to vote, and for no other undisclosed purpose, then "No thanks" I decline the offer to register.

Besides, the last time I voted was back in '97. I voted for New labour, who promised so much but gave so little, I voted for Blair. And look how that fucker repaid us! With a track record like that maybe I should be protected against voting.

Based on that, and my belief that whoever you vote for in this country, ultimately it is the money markets who will dictate policy, and the Eu that will dictate law, so why go through with the pantomime delusion of democracy?

The council then threatened me with a £1000 fine if I don't comply. 'You must fill in this form by law' they said. They even sent two blokes with electronic clip boards round to my house.

I said "Ok, I'll offer you a conditional acceptance". That means that I agree to do so, provided they can answer certain questions. If they can't answer those questions, then they agree that I have no obligation to register.

The questions I asked them were these:

Is it voluntary or not? If not, why do I need to enroll? Why would they not just do it automatically? If it isn't done automatically then surely that must be because it's voluntary? And if it's voluntary, why are you standing on my doorstep threatening me with £1000 fines?

Those fella's went away and they took their clipboards with them, haven't heard from 'em since.

Re: swaged holes. I've discovered that everything made from sheetmetal looks a million times better with swaged holes in it. My set of Qmax hole punches should arrive this week along with the rest of my swage tools. I'm going to start with the 2cv front bumper and bonnet, then probably my toolbox then the vans bonnet and god knows what else. If anybody wants a 12, 25, 38 or 45mm hole put in something and then swaged let me know. I'm like a kid on Christmas morning!

Sad little man.

Old nail,
Have you seen 'the anti terrorist guy' on YouTube?
Funnily enough,
I've learnt that if you do not consent you do not consent to be governed
Here's a good example...
http://m.youtube.com/index?desktop_uri= ... zI98Qd03Jg

Nick the guy refusing to pay has it spot on, there's two videos. Watch them both, and you'll learn alot. IncludEing about a 'wet signature and about his warrant being in affective!
