Lets face it, it would probably live in a garage all its life anyway Below is a message from Richard Morris, from a few pages back:- Do not go near this car. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1989-CITROEN- ... 500wt_1126looks ok in the photos but painted straight over rust and the red/white D*lly stripes (you can see the colour). Rusty floors (mats glued down), smart car tyres, rusty bootlid and doors and bumpers. Wings don't fit so there are two bolts each side. Stick on chrome trim over the vent flap aluminium which was painted on the car. Low compression, etc, etc. New customer of my 2CV mechanics asked them to look at it as she'd just bought it for £5000 and they told her to get her money back straight away (she was very upset). We are planning on going to the "trader" together in my car and ask what he's playing at - it's only up the road from me. I saw this, but I'm not the type of person who believes things just because people tell me them. I mean, not all welsh people are sheep fanciers are they?

 Re: Leboncoin/eBay finds
Sam, looking at the photograph of what lurks under the bonnet, for the asking price of £4,800 you might expect to see a serviceable set of demist tubes, an alternator belt cover fitted, a headlight aim adjustment mechanism which was complete and so had some chance of working as it should. How about those side repeaters which are an MOT requirement for a car of this age? Some mudflaps might be a good idea, maybe even rubber buffers on the over riders instead of a strip of black tape to hide the bolt holes. Far too many 'paint shop jobs' around nowadays, with those who churn them out having little knowledge of or any interest in the mechanical aspects of the cars... ken.

 Re: Leboncoin/eBay finds
I notice he also bought a red/grey D*lly from 2cvtv for £1200 a fortnight ago, that he is now advertising for £2800. I don't know who this bloke is but a chancer, yes, deluded, certainly. A pain in the preverbal artificially inflating the prices of our cars for his own ends, definitely. Bag of shite.

Lets face it, it would probably live in a garage all its life anyway I think the main problem is that it's been done by someone for a profit and with no knowledge of how 2cvs work, and that no welding's been done to it. It's all been fillered - and not even rubbed down properly. On delivery (back of a trailer) it wouldn't even start. Quite why the purchaser then handed over £5,000 for it I don't know, but at least she got her money back. As for putting Smart care tyres on and claiming you can't get the correct size any more - Should tell you all you need to know As Ken says, too many shiny paint jobs flattering to deceive now that the prices have gone up. Miles of sticky on chrome strips should at least warn most people with taste away
