Wax, protection for the body work
I remember old nail applied some brilliant wax to his Car, that protected the paint work very well in winter use, can anyone remember what it was? Or suggest another product. I skim read all 100 odd pages but couldn't find it. Why do I ask? I've wax oyled the bottom, and want to protect the top bodywork. And am not keen on splashing waxoyl over it!!!
It was high in carnuba, Anyone know what I'm on about??

Try collinite 476S paste, not only does the tin look like its from the 50s, but it gives a fabulous finish. Kills your arm putting the paste on the car though.... http://www.autobestbuy.co.uk/shop/product.asp?P_ID=234http://www.collinite.com/automotive-wax ... paste-wax/

Re: Wax, protection for the body work
So long as it prevents penetration to paintwork

Re: Wax, protection for the body work
yeah, just like a polish, put in on a dry cloth, once it hazes, buff it off with a different dry cloth

Old nail applied this stuff I believe that formed a full layer I've used auto glym super resin polish as suggested by russ which seems amazing!

Re: Wax, protection for the body work
it doesnt remove it, as all your really doing is buffing up the shine. I tried this stuff on the fiat panda last year, and its amazing stuff (beads the water for months on end )

Re: Wax, protection for the body work
Cool! What about using cleaning products or isn't that necessary for months? Just a dash of water with the hose?

Re: Wax, protection for the body work
Yeah i would just give it a rinse, to get the dirt and salt off.
Some people use jet washers over winter, but i wouldnt as you are forcing water into areas its not supposed to be in, and it might also remove the wax/underseal. You only want to use a jet washer in springtime (after the salt has gone from the roads.
If the bodywork is good*, have a look at bilt hamber cavity wax
(*you dont want to put wax over rot)
