We're hoping to make enough money off this forum thing to skip the country and live like kings on the Costa del sol.

Actually, we're not. We want to grow and develop the site, I still think it's very early days at the moment, we've all put a massive effort into getting this to work, espescially Max, and it's really picking up now. That's in no small part to you guys using it and posting up things about 2cvs!

Thanks to those who have donated to the cause, it's cost us a fair wedge so far and we aint about to start charging for membership of this site or anything, we don't need a fortune to keep it going, but any donations are welcome, we're working on getting stickers and hoodies made at the moment, onve we've got that off the ground, I think we'll be sorted.

Thanks again, you're all lovely.

Russ.

Maybe, at (say) Registers weekend, why not have an I2F bucket to pass round then anyone who wishes to can lob in a couple of quid there and then. Might be a good way of getting in donations from a captive audience ;-)

Works for me, but I can imagine 2cvgb having an SoH failure over it...

I think you are right, the 2CVGB fun police would not go with the bucket idea. Simple PayPal account with link from this site, simples

Do you have new hosting facilities yet Adrian? Do you know what space you need and are projected to need. Max may have mentioned I rent a server in the UK. Depends on your needs I could host it gratis but I have seen how much space these forums gobble up when they become popular and people post huge picture files!!

AIUI, probably, but things need to be confirmed before making any announcements.

(FWIW, I'm not part of the official organisation, merely providing tech advice...)

Guys

I am more than happy to do T-Shirts - hoodies, mugs etc and am willing to stump up part of the cost, please speak to me before doing anything. I want this place to grow, which is my only motive.

Please dont get hung up on trying to make a profit by selling T-shirts etc. There is very little money in it and its a lot of hassle. I've been doing this for 3 years now and know. Remember T-shirts etc are all about advertising the site - not making money. I do all the BX Club Merchandise, which is a forum www.bxclub.co.uk in the same way. They have 600 members and I'm still stuck with loads of their stock which may or may not sell one day - but it was the risk I took, not them.

I've got lots of stock to shift - and could easily stick the logo on some hoodies etc.

Send me some artwork and I'll knock up some samples FOC.

Rich

PS - Sorry forgot to say thanks for the rear belts Russ - only got around to fitting them yesterday.

Hi Rich,

Thanks for the offer of help, we'll most probably be in touch at some point in the future. I'm not sure about who/what/how yet, we've had a few online 'meetings' which have revealed that we're going to have to organise ourselves a bit better and think through what we're doing a lot more before we do it. Neil has spent a bit of time looking into a bank account for us, and Max has been busy designing things which we hope yo'all will buy. The idea of these hoodies and stickers is to drum up a little bit of cash but most importantly, get the I2F name 'out there' and seen at camps and meetings, the WM in Czech being the most important at the moment, as that's where we really want to push this site to attract a wider international audience to kick it off.

One thing I really should point out is that we aren't trying to do this to make money for us, we solely want to promote this website around as much as possible, which hopefully will bring a mix of nations and individuals here so logging in is the online equivilent of attending a big 2CV meeting, lots of ideas, people and nations all making friends and talking about all things 2CV.

By selling a few bits here and there, we won't make a fortune, but we will certainly be able to fund the promotion of the site which will hopefully facilitate the above ideal.

We certainly won't turn down any donations to make this happen, and we are extremely gtreatful for whatever we recieve.

I'm pretty sure I speak for both Neil and Max here when I say that we respect everybodys right NOT to want to buy sticks or hoddies or donate, we don't want to make this a paid members only site, we don't need to and we won't. If you want to dig deep, great, if not, thats cool with us!

I hope you all continue to enjoy the website, we really value your opinions and if you have any problems just ask one of us.

We all have jobs and lives away from here, so sometimes things take a while to be put in place, especially because there are three of us who all need to agree on things before they happen, so please be patient, stuff will happen but not immediately!

Above all, the atmosphere on the site is great, I hope this is just the begining of a great resource for 2cv enthusiasts, it's taken off even better than we expected so far, and thats thanks to you guys.

Russ.

p.s. Rich, I've got a photo album here of the pics from the feature we did on the 4x4, will you be at registers or shall I post them?

You guys ROCK!!! That's Neil, Russ, Maxx, and everybody who's taken time to log in, register and take part. But especially N, R & M who put it all together in the first place. Who'd have thunk it huh? Love the ethos and ethics behind the site and everything it stands for. So far, your ideal of a multi-national on-line community is really coming together.

So, with appologies to all side-winder enthusiasts - May you never fire on four!!

I won't. The A-series are all two-pot and the BMW has 6!
