Re: 1988 2cv D*lly bits and bobs
Tonight saw me do something easy
I have been having problems with the car, in that it randomly cuts out or won't start. I've checked all usual things such as coil, ignition barrel etc, and it was still the same
Upon speaking to Russ he suggested it may be the pipe on the tank
As we are changing the chassis there was really no point to drop the tank
But I'm an idiot and did it anyway!
Being more of a thick idiot I'd filled up previous day
Anyway. That aside, I undid the four bolts, but before that, knowing the tank would be reasonably heavy, I used a jack and a block of wood to take the load. I then lowered the jack down fiddled it out and un connected the filler neck and thus tank was out
I decided it would be helpful to drain the full tank into an empty tank
Whilst I was there, I flushed the fuel tank about 6 times. Amazing the crap that came out of it!
There wasa mixture of a few bits of water and a few bits of crap
I replaced pipe (a bit too long

)
I also whipped the sender out to have a looksie on it's condition. Looked fine
Put it back in, but two of the screws felt loose, (screws not biting) shall I put bigger screws in?
Then came the trickiest bit. Getting the tank back in whilst those stupid wanky plastic washers fell out
Eventually got there!
Didn't have a problem priming fuel either. Cheated

Let's see if I've fucked it up!!
