Hi if the Paris factory made its last 2cv on 29th feb 1988 my car was regestered in uk october 87 so must of been made a few months earlier than that while the french factory was still running,anyone know when the portugal factory opened

Re: Where was my 2cv made? there were a couple of months that crossed over iirc. There is a chance that it was made in portugal with left over french parts, i dont have any evidence to support this but it would make good business sense i would imagine.

Re: Where was my 2cv made? My 2CV's 'stats' are:-Black hinges, St.Gobain glass, metal headlamp bowls. But with a RP number of 4188, that means it was built on the 26th April 1988. The reason for all the 'French' bits being fitted to my car is that the doors(so glass and hinges)are off a Paris built car, and the crappy plastic lamp bowls were binned for metal bowls. To be honest there's not a great deal left of the original body now, I've had a good deal of it replaced over the years, so it's mostly built in Worcester, England(by a Brummie  ), than Mangualde, Portugal, or Paris, France. PS:-I'm fairly sure the Mangualde factory was knocking out 2CVs from about '84/85. Would be interesting to know when the first 2CVs were built there, anybody know for certain?
