 change in engine tone
Hi All
Question about the ‘tone’ of my engine. It’s an M28 in decent nick, not bad compression etc. but certainly smokes a wee bit…..
Up until a few weeks ago, I have always been very conservative with the speed I’d take it to on the motorway – (don’t laugh) 90 kph maximum
However, I was getting bored and decided to up it to the max. of 115 / 120 kph from Portsmouth to Bristol, so a fair trek.
The engine coped fine and has since, however it does sound different – it sounds more ‘tappety’ – it sounds more like a 2 pot basically….almost like the exhaust is blowing, except it isn’t
Any reasons why this might be??? Not a problem, I prefer the sound it makes now!!! but it got me wondering
Cheers Will

 Re: change in engine tone
I'm guessing it prob'ly blew a load of crap [rust & carbon] out of the exhaust system .... I've been wrong before though T.

 Re: change in engine tone
Also known as an "Italian tune up" cleaned the engine and exhaust out serious have a look round the exhaust as well as the manifold joints in case you've disturbed something
