 GS Engine - Build Date
Hi All, Does anybody know how to determine the build year of a GS engine?.
Have no info on the car it came from.
Cheers Peter
ps Perhaps like "Ken's" info on an A series engine (Thanks Ken).

Re: GS Engine - Build Date
have a look for a date wheel on castings and plastic bits year as a numeral in the center 12 segments often with a punch mark( or 4 for weeks) for the months the last one with punches is the month that die was used
if they tally thats the year and month you can bet citroen never had stuff sitting in parts bins for years on the production line
the fuel tank and the engine cases on my 2cv tied in to the month the ORGA no threw up

Hi Sean, Thanks for the pointer, have seen the markings.
Thinking/typing aloud.... Now would that, provide enough evidence for an MVA/IVA inspector??

Re: GS Engine - Build Date
I'm believe, that for an MVA/IVA test the Engine Year must be "provable" in some offical way, else it has to pass a more stringent emission requirement.
ps Still under research!
pss Valence sourced, thanks anyway
