Not entirely sure which way to go with it, do I tart it up as is or raise it right up à la raid cars and go green laning and the likes.....?

 Re: 1988 Road legal racer
Been giving this a lot of thought overthe last week or nso and think I'll probably be lifting it up to normal sort of ride height, fitting standard springs and front arms, a heater and a passenger seat and using it as a winter hack. Seems a shame in a way as I reckon it wouldn't take much more than a weekend to put it on the track but, my arse is too big for the seat and my body is too old and fragile to drive around in something that low and hard these days!

Re: 1987 (was) Road legal racer but soon to be winter hack!
This weekend may well see me start to create the perfect winter hack for me.
Gone will be the tarmac hugging lowness and the bacon preserving cold of the inside to be replaced by ground clearance and a heater! There'll also be a pair of seats too once I've removed/modified the somewhat intrusive door bars.
Then, it's a chat with Steve Walford (car 55 at last weekends 24hr) who's said he'll make me a silencer so I can even hear myself think-pure luxury!
It was fun but, it'll be nice to be able to use it a little more often though.
Of course, I may not bother evn touching it and just fix the oil leak on the Ami instead..................

Re: 1987 (was) Road legal racer but soon to be winter hack!
Just got in from work having spent 3 precious hours replacing a rear brake pipe on my Xantia (which the previous owner had just crushed meaning only 3 brakes on the car!) and really can't be arsed to go outside and work on this! I really should do something with it but motivation is at an all time low, anybody got any spare motivation they can give me or even just a bit of inspiration?

Re: 1987 (was) Road legal racer but soon to be winter hack!
Operation "Winter hack" began yesterday-the old racer looks a bit odd at the moment but I'm sure I'll get used to it. Other jobs needed are a couple of driveshaft boots, standard front arms, an exhaust with silencer/s, a heater, passenger seat, remove the door bars and probably a million other little jobs! I didn't say which winter it would be done for.
