Bumped in to a tidy looking G&W D*lly at weekend

had been restored by a specialist this year.new windscreen pannel on and looking good but external hood clips had been totally neglected with the spray gun and were already well down the rusty road

in the boot was beatiful and shiney ...shame the 2pack was cracking in all the seams

didnt check the chassis

timing was out by country mile DG ignition had been set and "not needed to be touched again"

all the starting hunting and running on was solved by posting a new carb to the customer!

F**k knows how much thety had taken off him...still, he has my number now and ill be visiting as its next to the big mountain bike centre in the Scottish borders

Yes mine was done by a 'specialist.' They hardly used any primer on the new panels. How silly :x

Hmmm answers on a postcard?

How was the chassis supported?
How did you initiate the flex

On it's wheels, sitting on the floor, as it would be under a bodyshell.

By wobbling the rear legs with my hands, although i noticed the movement when i stepped on one rear leg to climb over it, and the front moved the opposite direction to the back.

A younger Napoleon, by my (late) mother-in-law. Not one of her best, which is why it's keeping my Spesh company in the garage.
Is some of that movement simply the engine on its rubber mounts?

Here's a good one.

The bamboo has been pinking while under load recently, so I thought I might have a bit of a look at it before I jet off to the girlfriends this evening. When it came to adjusting the points, I set the gap but when I tried to tighten the screw, it just span round. I assumed it was a stripped thread, so I took the screw out, and found instead of the nice fine machine screw, actually, the last owner had stripped the thread and replaced the screw with a hacksawed-off self tapper, which didn't really fit the hole very well.

Thankfully, Old man Higgs had a points box built up with new points as a backup spare for his AKS400, so he kindly let me slap that in there.

Glad i discovered this before CZ, but it makes me wonder what else is hidden about the car. having said that, so much of it has gone shitfaced since I bought it, there's not a great deal left of the last owners handiwork to go wrong.
