Post Hot wired
2cv arriving with head light and charging problems. No wonder, regulator and multi plug burned, fuse box burned, some wires running to dash and head light bar burned, light switch burned. Looked in my ‘’original’’ English work manual for correct fuse sizes but nothing. Can anyone help please. The fuse box has 3 fuses only. I should add that it was not the common rubbing through on the air filter housing. What happened I don't know.
Cheers
Viking

Voltage regulator fell off and shorted out?

Must have had a fuse with much too high a rating to melt the plastic of the holder, maybe wrapped in aluminium foil or even stuck a nail in... :o

ken.

As its the blue circuit thats taken the hit thats: wiper motor, voltmeter, fuel guage, indicators and alternator field./voltage reg

all the usual suspects then-but as Ken says the burnt Reg points to regulator on the crossbox symptoms

and youll have another sparky moment if you keep putting your tools on top of the battery

(so many burnt spanners   )

Some of wires running next to the burnt wires are cooked too.

Collateral damage?

Once the fox gets in amongst the chooks, even those which survive will have lost a few feathers...

Yes that's a modern thing but I'm a mechanic so I repair when possible. Don't want to join the queue being ''parts replacement junkie''
