cheers I didn't know you could test for an earth

a decent multi meter will have a buzzer option to which i think is called continuity,
when you put one lead earthed (on a screw, bolt, you know anything metal attached to chassis indirectly) and the other to the wire
if it is an earth, then it will buzz, and read zero on a digital modern multimeter i believe, or is it 1, i cant remeber, but anyway i just wait for the buzzing sound.... and if you hear the buz, its an earth

Its called a Earth Continuity Test with a multimeter ( sorry my grandad was a electrician and he teach me at young age, never been able to forget the damn stuff haha)

I may be wrong but, from my experience, you won't be swapping your old mirror for a "dipping" one as the mountings are differently spaced in older cars and vans.........

P.S. I've always named my cars and I like kittens too. Although I prefer them when they've grown into cats!

The van used to be known as "Henry" back in the mists of time - early '90s. Then, when the people before us bought it, it had a little holiday in Thailand and came back as "Henrietta". We found that _far_ too posh, but "Hetty" just stuck.

What? Did somebody drive it to Thailand and back? Is there a story to tell about that?

If it helps drag it back to the topic of Sams 350, we took it to the nuclear sub for a pint earlier. It got us there and back. Then I spent all afternoon cutting bits of the chassis off and welding them back on again.

Same kitten, just killed deader than very dead in three different ways.

But, as I said - the cat would've died of old age by now.
