Post Re: light flywheel heavy flywheel light flywheel heavy flywh
right
i want a traffic clutch because i drove matt dampers 2cv and think its brilliant

no not a yank,

and this box has no clutch...
so i have no idea if its long spline or short, ill take a pic tomorow when its not dark, but i can tell you this, tis a disc braker... if that helps

i was advised it wouldnt fit a heavy fly wheel, grumble grumble...

so it is more than likely going to be a long spline being a later disc break box?

all these questions
chocalate

stupid question time
so if i can only support a spring type clutch, with a heavy flywheel, do i ignore the 1970-1982 bit of the below link?

If you use the heavy flywheel then you have to use the 3 finger clutch.

The 3 finger clutch can be fitted to either a 20mm or 40mm input shaft.

right
so to make things clear
the clutch ive posted the link to is not correct
and it doesnt matter size of shaft for flywheel and clutch etc?
ill measure the input shaft?? post how big it is tomorow make life easier as im starting to get muddled :(

Your ECAS link is the correct clutch for the heavy flywheel. You will be able to use it on either spline length.

The flywheel matters; the early 3 finger clutch is fitted inside the flywheel. The diaphragm flywheel is to all intents and purposes flat. Therefore you MUST use the clutch appropriate to the flywheel.

There are 2 input shafts; short and long spline, 20mm and 40mm respectively.

A short spline input shaft will ONLY work with a 3 finger clutch. You cannot combine short spline with late diaphragm clutch.

The long spline will work with BOTH types of clutch.

that is making sense to me now..

so being a late box, disc break, it will have a diaphram clutch so one is to assume long spline..
getting there..
so a heavy flywheel will fit after all, cant understand why i was told otherwise,
at any rate ill take a picture of it tomorow with a tape measure next to it, and then you can tell me that it will fit please :D

Then won't he need an old type gear box?

Or rather a post '70 gearbox. Which I'd have thought would have lower gearing?
