 Re: SoS'S Salbris Car
steering arms get the racer treatment Shanked Hi tensile 12.9 M8s stronger than welded up arms. altho this car wont go on a raid its going to be tough as old boots.

 Re: SoS'S Salbris Car
Sorry Sean, for the benefit of the mechanically challenged, what is a the advantage of a 'shanked hi-tensile 12.9 M8?'

If I could have found some m8 10.9 or 12.9 fine threaded bolts I'd have used them, the flywheel bolts are too short for stepped part of the arm and id have to buy a set of fine taps. http://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_is_mean_of_8.8_high_tension_bolthttp://www.boltscience.com/pages/faq.htmwe had found that m7 stretched allowing the joint to fret, so welded the arms and found that the weld was often cracked at the end of the 24hr never had a problem with this set up on the other car or ours since we did this OTT for a lazy cruiser but there was evidence that the thread in the housing had been dammaged and repaired with chemical metal or the like -a triumph of hope over eingineering. So rather than replace the hub drilled and tapped in situ. Sean

Sean, don't think you will either, with maybe 50% more clamping force holding everything together, according to this site. < http://www.cncexpo.com/MetricBoltTorqueNm.aspx > ken. Sean wrote: Never had a problem with this set up on the other car or ours since we did this Sean
