its the one thing about "the scene" i hate
I also detest the anthropomorphising stories in magazines that start of like " Im >inset nauseating name< a French built/born D*lly and my present owners....."
as soon as i see one of those stories the mag goes accross the room

and I go out and stamp on a few kittens - so Russel is right it does kill kittens.

 i was told the name of my van when i bought it, i haven't called it its name since i got it and hopefully it's now forgotten it :D

I'm ok with affectionate names.

I'm not so ok with anthropomorphic advertisements, that's seriously cheesy.

But what really, REALLY, gets my goat is people who give their cars their own flipping Facebook pages. Seriously, OMG and WTF.

NB these grievances are equally matched by my irritation at the proliferation of anacronyms in substitute for expletives, as well as my ever increasing annoyance at the use of the word 'deuche' to describe a 2cv. Now that REALLY makes me want to kill kittens. Oh and people who think ripple bonnets are 'drool worthy.' No. They're not. I'm an angry person.

Will Hugo be out and about this year Mark?

Yes, we'll be around
We'll be at the two WyeKnot events coming up (Cider Camp &'Raid' Barry Island) and Registers' Day :) I can't have the National/24hr weekend off at the moment as that will leave us short-staffed, but we (the boss &I) are looking into it Unfortunately, my best hope is having a workmate cover for me, but he is also keen on doing the racing weekend himself :?
Hopefully, we'll manage a few classic shows as well this season with Hugo's friend, Sammy the Chamois, my friend's '69 Singer ;)

I'm glad to hear that those evil bastard kittens are getting their cummuppence on account of the naming of 2cvs. However, I'm puzzled that this appears to be because it is considered in some ways twee or unmanly that one should name a prized possession. Well, if it's so unmanly then why did those hairy Vikings do it with their most prized of possessions, their swords? To add to the irony of this, check out the actual sword names that have been documented:

*Bastarðr ('bastard')
*Brynjubítr ('byrnie-biter') (Sturlunga Saga I, p. 450)
*Fetbreiðr ('foot-broad'; 'foot' as in unit of measure)
*Fjôrsváfi (acc.) (Life-taker?)
*Fótbítr ('foot-biter')
*Grásíða (Grey-side)
*Grettisnautr (Grettir's 'gift')
*Gunnlogi (War-flame, Battle-blaze)
*Hneitir (exact sense uncertain, but something like 'Thruster, Cutter')
*Hvítingr (White-One)
*Jarðhússnautr ('Gift' of an Underground Room/Passage; it was taken from one)
*Jôkulsnautr (Jôkull's 'gift')
*Kársnautr (Kárr's 'gift')
*Kvernbítr (Quern-biter)
*Lang (Long)
*Leggbítr (Leg-biter)
*Naðr (Adder)
*Níðingr ('villain, truce-breaker')
*Skrýmir (etym. unc., but perhaps Large-One; also the name of a giant)
*Skôfnungr (Shin-bone)
*Sniðill (Pruning-knife)
*Sætarspillir ('truce-spiller, peace-breaker') (Sturlunga Saga I, p. 453)
*Tumanautr (Tumi's 'gift')
*Tyrfingr (from 'a resinous fir-tree'; the sword is magical and is said to be sheathed in flame)
*Ættartangi (apparently Family-tang, as in 'tang of a sword')
*Ølvisnautr (Ølvir's 'gift')

and, get this:
*Kettlingr. Which means? KITTEN!

wow the things you learn on here! Hetty means "home ruler" which isn't too bad! Although I'm tempted by Skrymir, meaning "large one" ;)

Moving on...

I finished installing the stereo this evening. It doesn't sound as good as the one in the D*lly, but then this install has cost me £35 so I can't complain! I'm putting in wiring for a sub so I can simply swap the sub between the two of them.

I'm running with 2 speakers for now until I sort the front seats out but it really needs another set, just need to finalise the mountings.

I really enjoyed doing this job. I must admit, I like wiring things up anywhere, home theatre systems, etc... It's great on the van because there's so many places to hide cables.

I took the speaker cable up either side of the doors hidden behind the windscreen surround and the A pillar. Above the door it then enters the A pillar with the brake light feed and exits behind the B pillar.

I also got the chance to investigate this yellow cable. There were actually 2, theyve always been there just hanging down. One is permanently live, the other I couldnt get anything out of. The dead one I cut just behind the B pillar and taped it up. The live one I'm going to use to feed the interior lights. I guess that maybe the other one could have been an earth? But that would seem unusual as everything else earths to the body.

I think the indicators have been messed around with so maybe once it fed those... who knows!

So this is the new feed for my interior lights.

I also tidied up the cables behind the head unit.

The door cards were all warped and manky. I have one of the old black ones off my D*lly, but only one for some reason so if anyone has a black passenger side door panel spare let me know.

From my spares box I've dug out a later type rear view mirror with the dip feature so I'll swap those over tomorrow. Hoping to get this broken stud out of the chassis too.

Took her for a drive this evening. I'm getting more of a feel for her now, I put my foot down a bit and turned up the tunes and it was really nice :)
