Thanks Ken, pictures always help. Squeezebox wrote: If you havnt sorted it out then two solutions: 1) Come and borrow my car and switch the number plates...its all working and then you can go and get an MOT and swap the number plates back again 2) Contact Phil Sayers who lives just around the corner and loves this kind of thing.....I found he will do or help a lot if you are armed with beer and Cornish Pasties. But best of luck, hope it goes OK...let us know what happened. Thanks Squeezebox, 1) If I borrow your car I may decide to keep it 2) I will see if I can sort it myself, then call Phil to sort out my good work Have postponed MOT until I get this licked, got a little more time before it expires. Going to an MOT knowing you have a failure takes away the delightful element of surprise.

 Re: No dipped beam
So to disable dim-dip, I have to disconnect the cylinder below the engine mounts and stick a piece of wire on one of the relays? Anything else? I clicked the link and looked at Mike Phelan's explanation earlier but I got confused

 Re: No dipped beam
Ummm, 'a piece of wire' may be 'best price', but it isn't 'best practice'. To recap... Unplug the remains of the resistor clipped to the chassis front crossmember and store in the bin. Unplug both relays near the battery tray and fit a jumper lead to the 5 pin connector. Unplug diode which is ( usually) attached to the flasher unit, near the steering column and secure the redundant leads. ken Jonathan wrote: So to disable dim-dip, I have to disconnect the cylinder below the engine mounts and stick a piece of wire on one of the relays? Re: No dipped beam
To add to Ken's excellent new picture of the finished product, I thought I would add this my 'before' picture of the two relays. Just to assist people doing this in future. And for clarity, and before I whip it out, this black sausage/cigar/duckwhistle that is cable tied to the flasher unit under my dashboard is the diode that needs to come out? Thanks for all the help/patience so far
