IIRC, Hobbycraft were where Ryo purchased his Tenax kit from.

For the Tenax, you'll need a pair of the 2-hole fitting studs (note that for thick roof fabrics there's also a higher, shouldered version (not shown)) and you'll also need a pair of Tenax buttons with the back plate and the key tool to lock each one to your straps. I've also seen someone go for a real belt and braces approach and use the long threaded stud version of the peg (also not shown), secured from underneath the roof sides with a nut. The logic is that the 2-hole stud is only as secure as the screws holding it into the thin metal.

Well i went to hobby craft, and they didn't have what i asked for. so i came back home and looked through a box of some old nuts and bolts and i found some guitar buttons, i also had an old belt so i figured it was worth a go since it was free!
They stick out a bit further than the old poppers obviously, but with the same amount of self tapper cleared the bottom so it went in the same place.

The only thing i need to adapt is i need some sort of tube spacer in the belt to stop the screw from moving when the strap is moved to have the roof up or down.


Then to make them extra safe, i put a pair of strap locks over the belt. i am thinking about swapping these with some metal ones, but the plastic ones seem to do the job!

And the final look, I reckon it looks quite tidy for an old bit of leather!

FWIW - my roof has been rolled back since the last day of February & *touch wood* has been fine!

I really like that idea, but do you have to carry that bit of pipe around? looks nice and tidy though. I think its down to the wear on the poppers really, some peoples roofs stay rolled up with just the ropey bits of plastic with the poppers, others don't!

Anyway, all I've done is swapped the two external poppers for two of those on the inside that give a better feel clipping in. Tested up to 75mph with no problems

A friend of mine has a bar shaped like a giant sardine tin opener, but it still uses the original fittings.

I have found that some straps are a better fit than others, so it may be an idea to try out some others.
