Re: Today's tool porn I still reckon the cheapest way to get *really nice* tools is to scour the 10, 20 and 50 pence boxes at car boot sales. Not always too great for metric spanners etc if you want really good stuff, but if you're after screwdrivers, pliers, hammers and Whitworth spanners, and are prepared to spend a little time cleaning your haul up, you can find some really lovely tools that feel nice, look nice, and most importantly, won't break!
Having said that, my absolute favourite screwdrivers are the double ended ones with the plastic handles that come as part of a BMW's tool kit. It just doesn't seem possible to blunt them - and I've had a few bloody good goes!
