Post What colour is Poppy?!
Image

OK - here's two 'Poppy's. Mine's the one on the left. Plate says she's Feb '83 (Y reg), but she's always been a bit non-standard, having one of those dashes where they were using up their old spare switches, so she doesn't have any push buttons, and is definitely not the standard red spesh colour, compared to her C reg cousin on the right. The door gives the most accurate colour guide in the photo.

I thought (from the paint code charts I've seen, going by date) that she might be Rouge Castille, but that's too dark, and she doesn't look like Rouge Géranium either. She's a darker, redder, less orangey red than most Spécials (Rouge Vallelunga/Sunrise Red?). Any ideas what colour she is - it's really bugging me now! :?

Well, it's definitely red. That's about as far as my knowledge of paint codes goes, I'm afraid ... :)

And there is no paint code on the bulkhead?

sometimes its obscured by Dinitrol wax and 30yrs of lhm, gear oil and brake dust and cack.

Isn't the paint code visible then. Usually on the bulk head left hand side as you look at it.

Twins! one of us will have to be the evil one!

Ms Lobster,

If the code isnt stencilled on there may be a small 2p sized disk with AC*** pop rivited on the bulkhead somewhere.

Ah, yes, I think someone told me that; I just meant it in the sense that it's 'not like most of them'. I didn't realise they ALL did, but then my intimate knowledge of the older ones was based on a friend's T reg Club. ;)

Paint codes? On the bulkhead..? Who'd have thought?! I shall have a look... thanks all. Maybe she is Sunrise Red, but she never looks the same parked next to another one.

She is Sunrise red, but there were two or three different shades used over the years. The same thing happened with alpine white and sky blue, amongst others, but it's most noticeable with the red.
