   |   Re: More Insurance Quesions...Arguably a splitter is a performace mod, it is also arguable that it will materially affect repair costs in the event of an accident as it means the bumper has been removed; which is part of the accident protection.
The issue isn't really whether or not the preceding statements are correct or not. The issue is whether or not you want to be having that discussion with your insurers following an accident?

   |   Re: More Insurance Quesions...Thanks for all the advice. I've been ringing round this afternoon.. Cheapest I've got is £1499 as a named driver in FJ. It would probably be cheaper, but you can't be a main driver unless you're the registered keeper, which I'm not at the moment. Peter James just keeps on ringing... No one picking up and Flux was about 2k I think. Anyway, better than 6k I was quoted yesterday on Swiftcover. _________________

   |   Re: More Insurance Quesions...Might be worth getting a quote with you as registered keeper for comparison, if there's any chance of swapping it over. I would also recommend declaring anything that you think they might be interested in, and get them to do you a quote with it all standard as well? If it's a question of a couple of hundred quid, it might be worth sticking the splitter in the shed for a couple of years!
If you imagine for a moment that you drove a Saxo, and your insurance company got two almost identical claims for Saxos driven by 17 year olds, except it turned out one was completely standard and one had been lowered, painted to look a bit like a race car, and had a fibreglass bumper kit on it, which do you think they'd start making a fuss about?

All this bollocks about equalising premiums between lads and lasses too. Insurance is all about the statistics of risk. When young, lads are a bad risk. Always has been and always will be._________________

   |   Re: More Insurance Quesions...james did you get my message on facebook?
most companies have cottened on to the named driver trick which is tricky....

my own policy, after i passed my test was £1400
this year is 1100 after some discussions with tesco
no one would quote me classic car, rang round and round and round in circles for days so gave in and went with tesco, they where the cheapest, if your going to obtain a quote from them do it online with your clubcard as you get a clubcard discount plus an online discount!
