Absolutely. Add to that the inflated claims for a replacement vehicle along with deliberately delayed repairs...

Well done James.

I passed first time (just thought I'd get that in there). When I was learning the instructor used to pick me up from home, and end the lessons there too, However after I passed he said that he would drive me back home, as there was no need for me to drive his car again, I'm not quite sure what he meant by that.

i also passed first time after 6 weeks, 11 lessons

incidently joolz the reason they dont let you drive after passing ( i didnt drive instructors car after passing) is because apparently you will be a bit hyped up / on a high so its safer not to drive

Partly. But mostly it's because once you pass, you're no longer a learner and therefore not insured to drive the instructor's car (or lorry) any more.

I was going to say that myself, but then realised that a newly passed driver would drive an instructor's car for the "Pass Plus", so I'm not sure how that works re: insurance.

That's sad Louise, time for a 'sensible' car?

Unfortunately :(

I can't give it the care it deserves and not earning now I can't pay for it either!

Time for a more "throw away utensil"!

It was the best thing I ever did, I always used to harp on about how I didn't see why anybody needed anything more than a 2cv and how everything else was just boring traffic and too complicated etc etc.

I realise now, a few years later, that all that is bollocks. A 2cv or any other old car's ok, but it's just *sooo* nice to nave a normal car to use instead.

And I find it really makes you appreciate your A-series or other classic a whole lot more too.

In recent years, if I've had to run a 2CV as a daily, I find it gets a little tiresome I'm afraid-being pulled out on and cut up at every "opportunity" pisses me off. So, having a modern (okay, so my "modern" is 19 years old) helps immensly in that respect.
