It doesn't say or imply it's brand new anywhere DA? I tidied up the ad' after learning how to insert photo's in HTML from 250AZU last week. (Thanks 250) Plus, experience gained last week has taught me that no matter how considerate or helpful you try to be, people will just please themselves anyway.

There are pictures, there are words, and the car is available for viewing, there's not a lot more I can do in an ad after that. It's on for seven days this time, plenty time to come see it if there is a genuine interest. If I get tyre kickers on the other hand, then they'll wish they had gone doing something altogether safer, like naked hang gliding, or kicking Rottweillers.

Today the weather is beautiful. If I get a few more days like this I'll be tempted to pull the ad' and run the car through summer. Sell it again in six months. I can't really afford to run two cars any more, but since when did practicality ever have anything to do with my decisions. :P

Just teasing about the 'Item condition: New' heading - I know it happened the last time too!

It's a much better ad, tho' there was nowt wrong with t'other one. Showing part of the build in the ad should also serve to make it clear that this is not a 'patch up and blow-over' resto; that's a lot of work you did.

Damn, it's beautiful.

Good luck with it. You've had the 'twit'; there's only decent folk left out there now...

You'll look back on this a couple of weeks time and laugh. **cough**

What happened with the original 'buyer' - I presume you are not out of pocket in any way, but any closer to knowing the 'truth' of what happened?

There's something wrong with ebay, I specified and paid for supersize pictures in both this auction and the one before it, yet they came out small again. I'm glad I inserted those freebies in the main text now as at least they are of a decent size.

I'm still out of pocket of course, as the original buyer continues to argue the toss with ebay. I figured it's better just to relist now than wait for that to resolve itself. Just looking through the classic car listings there's a heck of a lot of relists on there, so I don't think all the idiots are used up yet. I never underestimate them DA. Why just this morning I read in the paper that a local Dwarf had had his pocket picked and his wallet stolen. How low can people stoop? :P

I was chatting to Bill Gale who bought the engine from me. I've known Bill for several years and he's offered me a few dash panels and front wing quarter panels. So I'm going to be spraying those up over the next few weeks. Anyone fancy a change? I'll do the Red dash that James wants first. I might as well paint it for him, that way it'll be a better finish than an aerosol job.

The quarter panels I'm not sure of yet. I'm thinking a red white and blue flag design, or maybe a union jack? Just something different to quickly bolt on if you fancy a change. And Terry, don't mention regrets. This sunny weather is magnifying them. If the bidders play silly buggers going up in ten pound increments then the reserve price is a long way away, and as long as the reserve hasn't been met then I've no qualms about ending the auction at any time.

Hah!
the world is full of F**kwits, most of whom are attracted to shiny things on E-bay and cars in general.

putting it in Ad trader and the likes aren't much better its just that they phone you up.

Post Re: My old Blue Bamboo
I drank so much on Saturday that it was 7am Sunday morning by the time I'd finished and got into bed. I was still a bit rough this morning tbh. Feeling so ill it was impossible to concentrate, so I went out into the garage. The sun being out made me feel better though, whatever next?

I decided to make a start of painting that dash panel. Sun shining, radio on, it all reminded me of why I enjoyed doing up the 2cv so much last year. I was just doing backing vocals to Whitney Houston's 'I wanna run to you' (Oooo - Hooo!) when my neighbour leant on the fence and caught me. He's used to me anyway. He once caught me doing the Ra-ta-da ta-da' bit of Manhattan transfer's Chanson d'amour, while simulating a waltz round the garage. :P

Image

The panel was full of those spidery thread vein type things under the paint where rust had spread, so I've taken it down to bare metal. Might as well start from scratch. The rust was completely removed and the panel etch primed.

Image

I'll spray this one red when I get some paint in. I was thinking of adding a thin contrasting pinstripe around the raised lower lip, before finishing off with a clear lacquer brought to a high gloss. Should look good when it's done.

Is the etch primer in an aerosol, O-N?

Seems a lot of work to mix up stuff for use in a gun for such a small panel. How long does it take you to mix it all up ready for spraying - and then to clean it all up afterwards? Do you keep cans of left-over made-up celli?

I'm just painting up some odd bits to help improve my spraying technique. I have some spare dash panels and other stuff to paint which should keep me entertained. I'm also going to have a go at airbrushing panels just to see what I can do. If my 2cv sells this time I'll have a big empty garage to play in come summer.

That etch primer is U-Pol acid 8 DA which comes in a rattle can so no clean up. Next is normal primer, then colour, then clear lacquer. Mixed in small amounts it's quick and easy, and with Celly what you don't use you can pour back in the tin.

Someone asked me to paint a set of wheels for them. I'll do it, but flaky old wheels are just going to be painted flaky old wheels. What I'm going for on these small panels, and in fact on everything I spray from now on is a 'show' finish. I reckon I can do it, but it takes a little work to achieve. Why bother? I dunno, why not?

Like I said I've got at least six months to do another small project. I'd like to respray a whole car but if not then I'll do bits of one instead. I just enjoy spraying, I find it very relaxing.
