<shrug> They're welcome to. The inspection is purely to see if it "really is" old. They aren't looking for condition or Construction & Use compliance. For an import over 10yo, an MOT is all that's needed for that side.
As far as I know any age of car needs to display its speed in mph or both mph and kmh and the headlights need to dip the correct way. The rules were changed a few years ago when lots of non compliant Smart cars were brought in .
That's C&U, rather than MOT, though. No check for that.
