If Sam got the editors job I'd definatly rejoin and submit articles for him, although I'm under no illusion that there must be an audience wanting to read the barely legible drivel I have to share, and to be quite honest I'd have thought most of my opinions and ideas would piss off more people than they would appeal to.
Starting this site was a very good eye opener to how thankless these things can be.

70 hours? So that's where my life went for two years... JFK, a well-known Citroen owner, said in his inaugural address: "Ask not what your 2CV club can do for you - ask what you can do for your 2CV club." Or something like that. This is still true today. Sam: do it. The satisfaction is great, and apparently these days you even get people to help with the mag production. Back when all this were fields, it was just me (with Loz B doing the small ads, thank God...) Russ: I'd really like to read about Spa, bizarre spelling & all

Russ: I'd really like to read about Spa, bizarre spelling & all I seem to remember JFK also called for a world meeting to be held in Berlin. People are arguing to this day whether he was was gramatically correct when he ended his impassioned speach calling for a Berlin world meeting with the words "Ich bin ein Berliner". Subsequently the debate of whether or not to hold the world meeting in Berlin was sidelined by the secondary debate over whether or not he in fact inadvertently described himself as a German sausage? Once again demonstrating the importance of getting your grammar right..... No one now even remembers where the word meeting was actually held, all they remember is "Ich bin ein Berliner".

JFK was right in a way as in Berlin the doughnut known as a Berliner to the rest of Germany is called a Pfannkuchen, the "ein" is usually left off but in the context of the statement he wasnt far off and wasnt wrong. Here is Kennedy's full statement: All free men, wherever they live, are citizens of Berlin, and, therefore, as a free man, I take pride in the words, Ich bin ein Berliner. Now having just got up, I need a lie down . Colin

Re: How many here are not 2CVGB members?
I was a member of 2CVGB many years ago. A series Citroens are now just one part of my motoring interests. I'm not an originality purist so the club that best fits my way of thinking is the NSRA (National Street Rod Association). They do the battling of bureaucracy, fighting for car enthusiasts rights generally and cheap insurance (even on my 2CV stuff). So I don't really see the need to join another club - especially as I wouldn't go to meetings, events or use their discounts and insurance.
I might have joined just for the 2CVGB website and forum but this site and SNAIL seems to have it covered for me.
I wish 2CVGB well - it just isn't for me at the moment. If I get the desire to ditch all of my other vehicles and concentrate again on A Series Citroens then I probably would rejoin - unless I am flamed on here for being a skank etc.

Starting this site was a very good eye opener to how thankless these things can be. the last sentence rings so true... above that is what I think would be entertaining.. but alas Russ we know your views were a bit ''under valued'' before... still would be fun while it lasted.. Sam go for it.. you'll never know till you try..
