 Re: My 2cv
Oh dear, it's back with a vengeance and worse than before. Looks like I'll be off to bed early this evening. And I was only saying last week, in all my 39 and a half years, I've never had a chest infection. Well, I have one and life sucks at the moment

Ahh... you still counts the half year, bless your 'ickle cotton socks. Only another few years to go before you don't even bother counting the full ones. Get well soon mate.

 Re: My 2cv
Decided to get myself out today, even though I visited the doctor yesterday and I'm now on a 10 day anti-biotic course for a chest infection I headed off down to Exmoor and Minehead and even gave Porlock Hill a go That's one hell of an incline, I just couldn't get the car to go up it in any other gear than 1st The car ran faultlessly and I even managed to get 81.5mph on the M5 on the way home. Going down and into the wind, I was down as low as 47mph on a few motorway inclines and only managed about 57mph on the flat The one thing I'll need to do though is to replace some rivets on the drivers side mudflap, which was flapping madly and banging the bodywork, I've used a cable tie for now. Has been a good day out and I hardly coughed at all.........Unlike now...... it's back with a vengeance

 Re: My 2cv
Cheers mate I'm staying indoors today. I'm not complaining too much though, I'm looking forward to a new series of Time Team on Ch4, then Top Gear at 8. Good times in bad.

 Re: My 2cv
You know, watching Top Gear when they have a "challenge" and choose old sports/fast cars from the 80s/90s makes me realise just how effing good the 2CV engine actually is. They tend to buy something like a 911 or a BMW and quote the top speed when the car was new and then try to attain that figure......and always fail miserably!! For example:- "When new this car had a top speed of 147mph!!!" When they try to get 147mph out of the car they've bought, it often ends up out of steam at 115mph. Now here's something, my 2CV has done 201,000miles and when it was brand new in 1989 it had a top speed of 71mph and today it has a top speed of 71mph (unless I'm going down a bloody steep hill on a motorway, in which case...as much as 83mph ). A 2CV never gets slow with age. The 2CV is the best effing car in the world.....EVER!!! Now excuse me, I'm off to bed as I need to be up early to fix it. The exhaust is blowing after I hit 81mph coming down a steep hill on the M5 last week.

 Re: My 2cv
Exactly!! I can't understand it, can't be bothered to understand it if I'm honest, all I know is my 2CV will/does hit and stay at 70mph on the flat without much effort. Personally speaking, I suspect other engines are just plain dog shite.
