The thread is a standard M10x1.5 and the thread's 35mm long, however if you go and find one off the shelf somewhere it'll have a 17mm head, and you wont fit the socket down the middle off the fan.

You'll need to either find an original, or try one with a socket head (allen key).

I thought it was some total odd ball size like M9!! Sure Ecas used to list an allen headed one to do the job.

40mm should be OK, but don't forget the lock washer...

...and maybe a key to drive the bolt?

( As a stop gap, maybe you could use a longer 10mm bolt with a washer bearing on the starter dog to stop the fan escaping? )

Don't let that put you off. Always worth giving Roy a call as he does usually have a stash of unlisted parts.

Also, 2CV City currently list one, part number EP044 @ £2.

Perhaps too late now but anM10 allen head screw will be easier to find "on the street"ie hardware stores BnQ etc just remember you need to carry the suitable tool for un doing it

I should post an update with 'my' solution......

I got a 100mm bolt (plenty of length to clear the dog with the a 17mm head) and used a bit of thread lock on a nut at about 35mm along, not elegant, but it got me where i needed to go! :D and a proper bolt!

Unfortunatly... I must have damaged the fan belt, it shreaded to strings round-a-bout today.... oh well fan off again!

BTW the allen head screws in the diy shops I looked in only went up to M8 :(
