Post Crank seals.
Can anyone advise on the correct way around the crank seals go?
I have read the haynes mannual, but it is not clear about the front one.As far as i can see,the rear one goes in lips facing out and the front one is lips facing in.(size and manufacture name facing front of engine).
Can anyone advise please.(I would have thought they would both be lips facing in) :?

The open side of seals should always face the oil.

Just as I thought, lips facing in.The old seal (rear) was installed wrong, lips facing out.I'm sure the haynes mannual says install rear seal with name and size facing forward!

Is that how you take the bushing out?I filled mine with grease, found a drift the same size as the I.D. of the bush, put it into the hole and wacked it with a hammer. It flew out

Dave
the writings on the wall- you should be able to read the numbers on the edge of the seals when they are fitted -the flat face facing the outside the open face towards what you want to keep in- in this case oil

some seals are double lipped with a smaller lip on the outside to keep contamination away from the main sealing lip
