Jeepers, James2cv - you're not kidding. That beaut is not just a runner but comes with an MOT too.

I don't think we should get too hung up on this; that mildly untasteful pseudo-Charlie with the completely tasteless advert (talk about begging...) will only appeal to certain types, and few - if any - would find themselves on here. These peeps won't necessarily push up the prices of 2CVs in general, as they simply wouldn't contemplate buying one that needed 'work' - only one that 'looks good'. And good luck to them...

And, should we want to off-load one of our cars, we know we can tart them up and there's a steady stream of idio...er, I mean discriminating buyers, out there to snap them up.

Chevaux for courses.

(And - it's pretty clear to me that only one of these will hold its value...)

^^ That reminds me of my ex's 2CV which she bought from John Maris. I used to love driving around in that thing ... :D

I've got a polaroid of your old pink un being winched out of ditch during some fun off road times after John M got it a bit wrong. Think you were there, but can't remember when it was.

Are you sure it was being winched out of a ditch? I remember it being picked up and then supported at 45 degrees by ropes attached to a tree. This was done so the fuel line could be reattached.

Do you think that if Old Nail were to buy that car and do it up he'd start a new thread on here called 'My Old Pink Special'?

Nah, I didn't think so either...

That's it! I knew I remembered it being suspended in mid air for some reason. Can you remember where it was? Probably one of the Firkin Freezing camps, but I could be wrong.

I'll tell you what. I looked at that car and thought "It only needs a respray," and if it stayed cheap I'd have been tempted. As usual it's too far away to make any sense buying it though.
