Post Re: My 2cv
Just been round to Peter Cross at Tibberton. I've had a new pair of NGKs fitted and the car starts much better....when hot. When the old NGKs were removed, they were rather white looking, so obviously the car has been running rather lean. Had the carb. checked and the floats are set correctly, but the one thing that failed the test was the fuel pump (I've suspected it for quite some time, to be fair). When the engine is cold, it's a right bugger to start, so I now know the pump is having to draw new fuel through before it can deliver enough to the carb. to start the engine. Car's booked in for Monday to have a new pump fitted. I'll let you all know how I get on......Fingers crossed

Jonathan,
might be worth keeping the old pump in the boot, given recent reports about some new pumps... :(

The float level doesn't seem to have as much effect on overall mixture as a change of jet size, unless it was a long way out.
Were the plugs heat grade 6? I find that grade 7 or 8 in NGK's range is a better choice for unleaded fuel.

Thanks Ken, no idea which type are fitted, I just know they're NGKs  Tips taken on board though. :)

Well, after that little adventure above Hay-on-Wye a week or so back, I managed to get the 2CV quite dirty, so I've just been out and given it a very quick wash-more than half an hour or so is just too long in this cold weather-I even managed to spray on some tyre shine stuff and also scrub up the Robri's with Auto-Sol. Car is now ready to take me to this new Wye Knots meeting at The Trumpet, Ledbury, a little later on. :)

Post Re: My 2cv
Not been too well the last few days. When I got back from the meeting on Friday evening, I developed a nasty cough so headed straight for bed. Had a bit of a rough night but got up at half six on Saturday morning and headed in to work for my 12hr shift. I did manage to get though the entire shift, but it took it's toll on my health, which had declined through the day :( Come Sunday morning, I had to call in sick (first time in over 4years- I'm not happy) and spent the last two days pretty much in bed, with occasional short periods of wandering downstairs for a glass of water and log on to I2F to see if there's been an exciting new development  Well, come this morning, I'd had enough, so I jumped out of bed at half nine, shaved, shit, and showered and I've been up ever since :D Come this afternoon, I even felt well enough to fire up the 2CV and go for a blast. Just returned from a 56mile drive down the M5/M50 off at J2 and headed north via Bromsberrow,Welland and Upton-upon-Severn, back to Worcester. Good Times :D Just hope this chest infection ucks off by the weekend, so I can at least pop up to Firkin Freezing for the Saturday convoy.
