Re: Olive the Blueberries & Cream D*lly
You can send a request with a fee of around £5-£10 to DVLA for details of all previous owners of your car, that would be a start. My brother has a 1955 Morris Minor and using the original "buff" logbook, we tracked down an owner from the early 70s and paid them a visit, the chap was very emotional to see an "old friend".

Re: Olive the Blueberries & Cream D*lly
[ I have considered writing to the previous owner to ask them about Olive's history. But: A) It seems a touch stalkerish (unless anyone else on here has ever done that?) B) They could not be arsed to look after the car so probably wouldn't be arsed to write back ] Absolutely do it! Not at all 'stalkerish'. The very, very worst that will happen is that they won't reply. Mind you, they could then turn into the stalker... It's very common for people to contact previous owners of newly-bought cars to enquire about history, mileage, accidents, etc. Chances are they'll be chuffed to reply and have a genuine interest in what you're doing.

Hi Eastbourne..talking about Hastings Pier......they are currently demolishing what is left of the top of the structure. Much of the ironwork is piled on the beach awaiting disposal so i took this pic for anyone who wants a free 2cv chassis...but hurry they will be gone next week

Re: Olive the Blueberries & Cream D*lly
Ok D.A. perhaps I will write to the previous owner. I'll post any reply I get on here. I like the idea of a car version of Who Do You Think You Are? But without all the crying and trying to look sincere.
James, the mile high club brings out an urge to make jokes about Fokkers.
Wow, all that Victorian iron I could make myself a double hard Brunel style chassis, it may slow the old girl down a bit.

Re: Olive the Blueberries & Cream D*lly
A little update. Got a CD player for the car for Xmas not fitted that yet. In fact all general maintenance has come to a halt over winter. But, on the upside I have been driving the car most weeks in my time off, almost as much as summer. The cold air seems to agree with the car as long as the muff is on. The air box lid occasionally comes loose and hesitation kicks in under acceleration. Have been taping it down, would a new lid fix this or do I need a whole new air box? Got my first picnic of the year in this weekend! Slung the hamper and a blanket in the back of Olive and headed for the country. A baguette, tub of St Agur and a mini French beer, superb. We found a nice sheltered spot in the sun, roll on summer. One running issue with the car, the starter motor has started to make a whizzing/spinning noise before it actually kicks in and turns the engine over, is this a sign that it is on the way out?

I'd use some duct tape to fix your air box.
