Post Re: Wiper motor
Armature rewinding services certainly ain't as common as they used to be, but they still exist. I think chucking out the motors would be crazy - at the very least keep hold of them until you find a a suitable repair outfit and then send them a batch! Should keep the price keen...

Anyways, burning out the windings takes a fair amount of current; my first thought was "why didn't the fuse blow?!" Quickly followed by "'cos it's a stoopid 2CV and they have only 3 fuses to do everything..."

Ok, I might have this a bit wrong - it's based on a quick surf - but, the fuse supplying the wiper motor is, I think, a 16A beast, and it shares its function with the likes of the voltage regulator, indicators, and other wee bits and pieces. No bludy wonder the windings burned out before the fuse did...

So, a possible pre-emptive safety fix could be to install a separate in-line fuse of 7.5A (taken from the Burton website) for the wipers themselves. A sticky motor should then mean a blown fuse at worst?

also check the spindle that the wiper is on doesnt wiggle about side to side

if the wiper has gone over center once then you ckow that the spindles need replacing

you can drill a small hole in the zinc alloy body and then use that to squirt grease into the body of the spindle
