 car wont start
well after cocking about in the snow, i noticed some yellow snow, now, i hadnt pissed in the snow so this baffled me, until i realised it was combustable snow, (covered in petrol) so i had a fuel leak from hose from bottom of fuel pump to chassis leg, so i tried to replace without taking the pump off, but failed, so i wipped the pump off, replaced it all and put pump back, now i was told by a friend when i replaced it before not to touch the cam thing or anything, so i didnt, simply lifted pump up and put back down after replacing pipe, the car now wont start, i tried pumping gas pedal and all, i think ive flooded it, as there is some fuel on the manifolds, i tried winding in new plugs, still no joy help please note i didnt mess with pump so shouldnt be that?

 Re: car wont start
may be that the pump needs priming if its full of air it wont draw petrol
take the pipe off the carb
take the plugs out and spin the motor till petrol shoots out the carb pipe re connect everything and start.
you can also take the filler cap off and give a damn hard blow to push petrol through
all that assumes you put it all back as it should be
it is fuel related? are you getting a spark? all that playing in the snow could have got the points wet

 Re: car wont start
well the snow isnt that deep, its not deep enough to get to the points imo, but then again may be wrong,
it was running faultlessly until i changed the pipe, i did accidently let the fuel run out from the pipe when changing it so proabbly full of air,
i shall thaw out and have a go in a minute, there is fuel going on the manifould which made me think i had flooded it..?
yes it is luke, its the right way also ive taken the pump off again to make sure i had put it back
id forgotten the blow down the filler cap trick, first thing i learnt in a 2cv!

 Re: car wont start
if there's fuel coming out of the manifold then I'd *guess* that you've not got much of a problem with fuel supply, although obviously some fuel will have remained in the carb from before you removed the pump. Have you got a spark?

 Re: car wont start
sorted, thanks boys n girls, took fuel hose off, and nothing came out first time engine turned over but second time ad third a nice jet of fuel, put it back on, bit of cranking and it ran, on one cylinder though, doh, so worked out which cylinder (felt which heat exchanger burnt my frozen hands, diagnosed it as right, toko right plug out, no gap what so ever, too left out, nice gap, so threw those away and put the old ngk's back in which i knew worked, and 2 cylinders fired up and ran like a dream!!
i had put some equem plugs in, i never seem to get along with them, ordering a box of ngk's soon though!! thanks for all the help as usual!

 Re: car wont start
yer i swear by ngk's, ive always used them, when i ordered a service pack from our favourite uncle, in the pic it had ngk's so i assumed it come with them but it came with the equem plugs, so i thought as i had them id try them again (when my car wouldnt start) there now in the garage on the floor somewhere

i had put some equem plugs in, Equem plugs work fine when they're in good condition, (although I prefer NGKs too). But if you put one in without any gap who's fault is that??
