 Re: Cool 2cv pictures 6
How does the car drive in snow with the chains? yesterday i took the chains i've got out of the garage, but havent used them yet If it will snow more over here, and the roads get slippery I'll mount them to get to the main (and icefree) road.

 Re: Cool 2cv pictures 6
it drove in 1/2m snow but when it got stuck I rocked the steering to get traction one of the chains slipped off-they were cheapo ones and its difficult to get them tensioned evenly around the rim( they are in the shed awaiting modification). drove back from the run without chains and with a bit of digging and slipping got the car back to its parking bit, its got new Toyos fitted and they seem quite nice in the snow much better than the blocky firestones. I reckon good snow tyres would be better, they dont slip off, you dont have to take them off when the road is clear or dig down 1/2m to find your wheel to fit them S

Last year when we had 30cm I had the spiked snow tyres on and managed to get everywhere. Only needed to engage 4x4 when towing other cars!

Sean wrote: it drove in 1/2m snow Seems like most of the country is getting some good snow, all we had was a light dusting which has mostly melted now. So, no need for the snow chains yet, and I'm sticking with my "light snow wipers" for now

 Re: Cool 2cv pictures 6
No need for chains here, just the momentum fairy (and the odd bit of pulling the choke out/letting the wheels spin whilst pushing/hopping back in when it bites)!

Resorted to homo-hieght suspension for the day as the snow was getting compacted round the brakes and it wouldn't stop. Ah well.

yeah, I hate it. It was too high anyway, but as it only took two minutes to raise, it'll onlt take another two when the snow thaws out in a few days.
