Just got in from the London demonstrations. I saw the group of people who broke off from the march to cause trouble and they were led by, and mostly consisted of members from the anarchist federation and the Socialist workers union, are large bulk of whom i spoke to before the march started and they were not students.

The usual suspects then. They are also known as the UAF, another political organisation that attempts to associate itself with students in order to gain their support and disguise its own criminal actions.

Watching the TV coverage I can imagine one or two cosy middle class homes will soon be getting a knock on the door as many of the students were too naive/innocent to cover their faces. Meanwhile others of their number were launching those red metal fire extinguishers from the roof of the building onto the Police below, potentially fatal.

Is it better to start out in life with a £9000 student debt, or a criminal record that bars you from certain occupations and countries for your entire lifetime?

Britain's only just finished paying off the debt for WW2. Germany only just finished paying off the debt for WW1! Did the debt repayments ruin the lives of post-war baby boomers? Did it hell!
Don't fall for all this debt-repayment bulls**t! It's a narrative that's invented to make people accept the biggest rip-off EVER! The banks screwed up, we bail them out, and then we pay for it, while they cream off the bonuses to which they scream they're entitled. Makes me puke!
Oh, and check this out (1st time I've ever posted a link to the Daily Mail!): http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/electio ... ories.html
We're all in this together?! Yeah, right.

Re politicising a generation is a remarkable achievement; despite it not exactly being what they set out to do.

In the past all our politicians had a veneer of honesty and integrity. In my opinion they weren't all honest, nor did they possess great levels of integrity, but they were able to fool the public with a seamless act of statesmanship which made it appear so, and that was all they needed to get them by. Today's politicians simply aren't that clever.

We're not 'in this together' as is patently obvious, neither are the proposed cuts in defence, the Police and NHS in the national interest. I know there are those that might roll their eyes when I come out with statements like "Those responsible for the mess in our society will simply retire to a villa in Tuscany or whatever, and live happily ever after" while we remain in the f*cked up society that they created.

But can't you see judging by that link that's exactly what will happen?

The most hilarious photo of the week must come from China where Cameron and his team are pictured quaffing champagne, each of them wearing a Poppy, which is an insult in China. I agree with the wearing of the poppy, what makes me smile is that all these educated men with their multitude of special advisors were still made to look like fools.

Too true James, too true. You can blame Robert Peston, the business editor at BBC News for a great deal of the banking crisis. He was the reporter who broke the news that Northern Rock was in trouble, so causing a "run" on that bank by Joe Public. I know that freedom of the media is a good thing, but sometimes it can go spectacularly wrong. By breaking that little nugget, it pretty much ensured the creation of the financial mess we're in right now.

Another reporter you have to be weary of, is Jeff Randle. He sees the worse in anything and everything. About a month or so back, he did a piece for Sky News from Merthyr Tydfil in the south Wales valleys. He found the worse people to interview, right proper lazy chavs on benefits and made out that everybody from Merthyr is exactly the same. F**K OFF RANDLE!! I was born in Merthyr and spent the first twenty years of my life there, but I got out and moved to Worcester and I've worked bloody hard all my working life, I've not had a day off sick in almost 4yrs, and only then because I work in health care and I couldn't take lurgy into work, so I was "banned" from entering when I turned up at work. I have friends who still live in Merthyr, they all work(two are self-employed), they have mortages, they pay full tax, and they are all P**SED OFF by the stereo typing by the likes of Bloody Jeff Randle! Take it from me, there are good, decent, hard working folk who live in Merthyr Tydfil, and the ones who aren't, are not representable of the mass.

I'll get off my soap box now guys, sorry for the outburst.

PS:- If part or all of above makes little or no sense, I apologize, I've been up for the last 27hrs.

The phrase shooting the messenger springs to mind. He isn't responsible for the crisis, the banks are. They invested money in sub prime mortgages that they really disdn't understand but as long as the money kept coming in they're happy to take the bonuses. The regulators let them carry on.

Yes, I know 250, but if people hadn't been aware that the situation was THAT bad, they wouldn't have made a "run" on Northern Rock, which then caused a dominoe effect thoughout the banking sector. I'm not for one minute claiming that the banks are free from blame, they are very much to blame, but by bringing the situation they were in to public attention and hyping it up, by suggesting that the bank will collapse and ordinary Joe will lose his savings, it made a bad situation, untenable. Even the BBC is guilty of media hype, and the media is a very powerful force, for good and bad reasons. If I remember correctly, it was the Northern Rock story that made "people in the know" take a look at other banking institutions(including American banks)and throw a wobbly. :)

'Carry on' sums it up.
Some years ago, Northern Rock approved a loan to some crooks who'd convinced them that they owned my house.
Seems they didn't even check the Land Registry, to find out who was the legal owner before throwing money in the scammer's direction.

Of course, I was the one who got into trouble with Consignia ( Royal Mail) for opening dodgy mail which turned up here, when they'd broken their own rules by delivering mail to a caravan parked in a field on the other side of the river.
Same 'house' name, same street name, very similar postcode.

That financial 'house of cards' which the #ankers created would have toppled eventually, things probably would have been even worse if the game had carried on for longer.
