Post Re: The O/T thread!
Can anyone recommend a decent, intuitive, pc-based video editor, preferably one that doesn't cost much/anything? The editing software that came with my camcorder is so s**t that it drives me into a Basil Fawlty-style rage every time I think about trying to edit anything...

Saw my first ever 'salt spreading' sign while driving on motorway a sec ago, so when I get home after salt being thrown everywhere, should I hose car down? Around running gear???

Its very unlikely you'll have coated the underside of the car with it. Your garage is dry James, the best thing is to leave the car dry then the salt won't do any damage.

Wet salt left for long periods of time is the issue.

Ahh I see. Fair enough, matt told me to drive through an in salty puddle so that's what I did, I'm not even sure it had web gritted. It just said salt spreading on the board, but thought I'd chuck it through a puddle anyway :D
And he said to go through a puddle (clean) if the car got salty and you can't wash it down

Just got in from the London demonstrations. Amazing experience, but please don't buy into the media's look at it. I saw the group of people who broke off from the march to cause trouble and they were led by, and mostly consisted of members from the anarchist federation and the Socialist workers union, are large bulk of whom i spoke to before the march started and they were not students. They chose to "protest" in a way that i didn't think was necessary on the day, but they had to make that decision.
Its just a shame that the 200 that broke off made the news more than the other 50,000 that marched and chanted for hours without causing harm to anyone, or any damage to property.

If that reads really poor then it is because i have been up for almost 24 hours, and 90% of those hours were sat on a coach or walking through london.
Goodnight.

Just got home from work for the second time this morning ... first time I got in I'd been home around two minutes when the phone rang. The nice gentleman on the other end informed me that I was still in posession of the lorry keys and could I possibly get them back to him as soon as possible please? One hour long round trip later and I'm home and about to go to bed, having checked my pockets thoroughly for Scania keys before leaving work.

Re. London demonstrations: I actually thought that what the naughty boys and girls did was quite funny. It's good to see that the desire to break a few windows when all is not well remains undimmed in the British psyche.
Do you think that the police would have allowed the so-called "troublemakers" to get right up to, in to, and ultimately on to the top of Tory HQ if they themselves didn't have a point to make about the swingeing cuts that they too are experiencing? Plus: how come Lib-Dem headquarters (not very far away) were reported to be very well protected by police? Hmmm.

its the media, they mis represent everything
in business studies last year my teacher wax forever blabbering on about how the media have forced the reccession to be worse by bigging it up, consequence? everyone panicked!!

but of course they where going to focus on the naugty ones, which headline sounds better

"students" kick the shit out of tory building and some police

studendsmarch through london in protest

which one would you view?? ;)

its what the media do all the time!!
my way of looking at the whole situation, the goverment have to save money somewhere, cuts have to be made, they havent made them in the write places in my opinion, im sure were still paying for swimming pools and second homes? but if they dont we will get in more debt and people my age (and the ones at uni) will spend the rest of there lives paying the debt off with high taxes
better to get it done and out the way
or am i wrong? i dont understand poliitcs
