spanners,
looks as though you got some camera shake in that picture of the new floors. ;)

Dunno if the replacement floors and sills are the same as originals, but doesn't the outer edge of the floor form the base of the sill 'box'?
If that's correct, they will need to be welded together along two lines, unlike a 2CV or Dyane floor, on which the outer flange fits against the inside web of the sill.

This is as close as I've got to an Ami recently.

Starting to cut out some localised corrosion on an Ami 8 floor...

and afterwards...

Yeah, they do go in as per the originals.

I'm quite sure that once I've cut the old crap out and clamped the new panels in place, it'll make sense.

Thanks Ken :)

Not a lot to report today having spent most of the day doing other stuff but I have managed to get the last few bits of sill off. Just a bit of cleaning around to do then it's time to see how well the new bits fit.

Oh, and I also spent quite a bit of this afternoon swearing. A lot! It still really hurts but that has to be a good thing really I guess, it couldn't hurt if I'd cut it off!

A bit of B pillar. I'd been drilling the spotwelds out and then slipped as I was removing the last bit of sill from the bottom of it and then became "impaled" on the B pillar.

It was good fun trying to get my hand off it without causing more damage to myself!

It's not often that I'm really, really glad that a "work-in-progress" thread has an out-of-focus photo in it...

Ami floors and sills = nightmare. see my pics on FB if you can.
you cant fit one without the other. i think i put the sill in place then fed the floor under, bolted the floor to chassis then tacked, checked, double checked and seam welded inside and outside. the outside being a lip that in the end holds the rubber door seal... its so not easy and I'm not doing it again!

I've done a bit of tinkering this week but not an awful lot of profress has been made although I have made up hefty reinforced seatbelt mounts to go into the sill for 3 point inertia reel belts. :ugeek:

I also splashed out at the Classic Car Show today and bought a shitload of super thin cutting discs (I need a lot of them, have you seen the state of it?) and a joggler/hole punch.

I've been meaning to buy a hole punch for years but, being seriously tight, I've never got round to it until today. Had a play with it when I got home and am wondering how I've managed without for all these years? They're great! 8-)

Hi Spanners

Is a joggler / hole punch also known as a nibbler?????

and when you weld the new sills in - does the new section butt up to the old, or does it somehow overlap???

really pleased there's more Ami Action going on !!!!! hurrah!!!

Will
