Someone needs to be incharge, and the suggestion was viking. This doesnt mean to say that he is going to be writing all the posts, simply moderating them. i think people got the wrong idea of that suggestion maybe? just cos a bastard is in charge of it, doesnt mean you cant do one, surely? From my point of view, the 4 behind this website should be proud of it, and the users in it, however out of hand we all get sometimes, we all do it at some point, so what do i think is next? maybe we should all apollogise to each other, as biccuring is going to destroy this golden dust of a forum, and we are the only ones who will loose out, sorta pissing into the wind, shooting your own team down type thing. we all knock (well the experts on here) all knock there heads together to help each other, and damsels in destress, you always come up with a solution, so why all fall out over a bit of silly biccuring??
i accept any critism for posting this, and apollogise if ive provoked this in any way,
james i must add, were as mentioned 2cv'ers, all one big family in a sense so we shouldnt argue amongst ourselves!!!

Should have known better than to feel like that, as it's only taken a couple of days and one thread to make me feel it's a waste of everybodys f@cling time. Reading this makes me wonder why we bother paying for it actually. I'm half tempted to lock the entire forum for a couple of weeks until the four of us can figure out how to deal with this kind of senseless infighting.
Look at the big picture. I'm ashamed. Thanks. Not sure why you think like this Russell. It is a "brilliant" web site because of the very varied contributions on it. The fact that there are disagreements and contentious issues debated adds to it. If everyone agreed with everything there would be nothing to write about and it would be very dull indeed.

 Re: 2CV school
You can't see why I think like that? Have you not read this thread? I couldn't give a turkey if there are disagreements. What pisses me off is the total failure to 'agree to disagree' which is a very simple idea that would probably allow this forum to move forward. Peters idea is great, I don't see why the massive rush to shoot the idea down in flames and have a few snide digs along the way.

Seems to be in the nature of internet forums, sadly. Although most forums are made up of people who've never met and never will: I thought this one might be a bit different because so many of us have met at camps and so forth.

It was naïve to think that a consensus on this topic was ever going to be agreed on a forum thread. In principle its a great idea. Some in this thread think there is no need as the information is already on here somewhere, some think rules need to be created to avoid misinformation. Its for the mods to consider the points raised and decide the merits or not of the topic and how to implement it. I would have thought this helpful to mods and not as Russell has done and gone all "toys out of pram"
