 Re: 2CV school
Perhaps if these "workshop manuals" had their own section from the main board, they will be easy to find for old and new members alike. Once each thread is completed by the author, it should be locked.

 Re: 2CV school
Maybe we can can do this like Wikipedia. Someone can change the text but only the first writer/admin has the almighty right.
Take in mention also that there are (mostly) more ways to do a job and not only one. You can do a job with the right tools, or doing it with what ever you have....
But there has to come a seperate diy section for sure..... Great idea

 Re: 2CV school
On a similar vein, I don't think it would do any harm for the mods to be more ruthless in the technical section. I know some people might object to having their posts moderated, but once they're a week or two old any social or 'chatty' element is no longer relevant, and I don't see any harm in thinning posts down to the useful information.
Also threads sometimes get started with random titles like 'Help please', or other times useful advice may be given on a subject not mentioned in the title or first few posts, in such instances perhaps the title could be changed, or the information moved, to make it easier to find in the future. I know I've seen some real gems on here that I doubt I could find again unless I remembered the thread title.
There are some topics that get brought up repeatedly, perhaps the most useful posts from a selection of similar threads could be grouped together somehow and made easy to find, perhaps a sticky or under a '2cv school' sub heading? Although I realise that the mods would probably like to have lives outside of the forum.

 Re: 2CV school
maybe the ones that get repeated constantly should be stickys??
im guilty of going of on the old random title, but if you search for something it actually searches through the posts as well so its not just the titles it searches

 Re: 2CV school
ok, so when you go into a sub forum for example technical, have you noticed that vikings (amongst other threads) vikings kingpin is always at the top? that is a sticky, because it is stuck at the top make sense?

 Re: 2CV school
could I also suggest, that maybe if this new sub formu where to emerge, we, as a team, all get given a task to carry out, as in each willing member will be given a chosen topic, for example, how to set points, this member then goes through searching any relevant stuff on the forum, or else where, to find out info on points, how to set them, from various posts, pulls it all together, adds a bit, changes it, and sends it to someone who sorts it all out and posts it all in relevant sections, now, this idea to mee seems a sensible one, to me anyway, i know it would be long winded and would take, a while, but if we all help it is possible, plus it will give the "2cv school" section a real kick start, and it would be full of useful information already!!
or is it a crap idea??

Viking,I think this is a brilliant idea.I am a firm beleiver in sharing knowlege.Showing people how to do a job is a good thing,it will save people time and probably some money also. The only problem would be if people are allowed to post comments,I personally dont think this should be allowed. If someone has something to say then post it in general chat or technical, otherwise the threads will go off on a tangent. You dont write to Haynes about their mannual do you!! People must just read the thread and take from it what they can,use the info or just enjoy the fact that someone has taken the time and effort to write and take pics for the thread,BRILLIANT
