This is what you need to do in order to replace the pipe.

thanks viking, that picture will come in handy, ive got the stainless kit from roy, and i can sort of understand where im heading, ive got all the apprioate washers etc which is in the kit anyway, do i need to take the points box off or is that just the way it was at the time in that pic???
whats the thing i need also??

You shouldn't need to take the points box off. Take the fan and its cowling off and you should be able to see how the old pipe is routed, which will give yiou a pretty good idea of how to route the new pipe. Oh, and you'll find it easier if you loosen the cylinder cowling on each side, too.

Took the points box off so I could clean. Fitted new points and condensor etc.

ahh i see worth an ask just in case ;)

looking at the cowlings, i looked to see how they where attached, and with the fan off i see two bolts either side where it "curves" by the lamp bar, is there no way at all i ccan get away with not jacking fonr of the engin up ?

No; the engine mounts are bolted through the cowling. You have to take the weight off the engine mounts.
