Isn't that the case with any 2cv?

I scared the hell out of myself on a roundabout. There is one locally where the centre is built up with a cone, built from cobbles. I got into the habit of straight lining it flat out with the off side wheels high up the mount. I always did it in the same direction.

One day I happened to be going in the opposite direction and did the same thing. The lousy British workman built the thing asymmetrically and unbeknown to me it is much steeper going the other way. I really thought I was going to land the car on its side

True,
but that extra 1,000 rpm of a 435 engine makes quite a difference to the sound effects. ;)

If it's who i think it is, he said the same to my local specialist when he came down from 'op North to collect a few shitters for 'restoration'...

I'm afraid I'll have to to quote Francis Urquhart: "You might think that, but I couldn't possibly comment." ;)

But doesn't he have a point? If the 2cv world will make do and mend as a matter of course then where's the profit in that? However, If newcomers are buying 'restored' cars as a whim or fashion accessory for five minutes then why not?

I saw an absolutely lovely 2cv weighed in on the scrappage scheme, and it came from one of his customers, a genuine 2cv enthusiast wouldn't have done that.

I was speaking to a 2cv specialist recently who told me that he was shifting every 2cv he could get his hands on, and quickly. I remarked that even in a recession the enthusiasts must keep him going then? His reply was that "Oh No, they're not 2cv folk that are buying, they're new people coming in.... I don't sell anything to existing 2cv-ers, they all tend to be tight bastards".

I wonder who that was...

D'you know, Neil that was exactly what I was thinking!

I wish I'd never found this site - I'm getting serious Car Acquisition Syndrome and I can't get any work done.

I want this and a garage now please

http://www.leboncoin.fr/voitures/58842735.htm?ca=4_s

Will I ever be able to buy a 50s A-series? I want one so bad.
