well i had a bit of a blonde moment ealier, i decided to fit a new alternator belt as the one on there was 22 years old and buggered, so all is going well, fit new belt, take guard off and give it a clean, wire brush (eh wire brush you ask?! did it with the dremel, worked, however one buble was so big i ground it out
)
and im going to paint it to smarten it up, anyway, what am i on about?
well i pulled over at the side of the road, as i had one of those, did i close the oil filler cap moments, and yes i had, i noticed the alternator wasnt spinning, so i look at the fan, also not spinning, i wondered why it was a bit hot in the cab, never mind, so i get my tools out at the side of the road, and re attach the fan. id done about 5 miles of driving, (didnt stop in non moving traffic once, and at about 40 with low revs, is this likely to of done any internal damage? it wasnt too hot when i opend the hood, as ive opend the hood on a few toasted motors before and you know when theyve been baked, but it didnt seem to bad at all, so i re attacked the fan PROPERLY! and drove on, i wondered why it was ideling a bit high when i pulled over!!
(id fitted new ht leads also so i put it down to ht leads being more better, )
suprisingly i hadnt lost the bolt either in the 5 miles!!!
oh well, what a noob!
