About Ami's. For the un-initiated (me) does the join between roof and upper windscreen become badly corroded? It looks susceptible to it.

Yes it does... Are 3 metalplates on top of eachother..
Also the underside of the edge of the roof is a place known for its rust

Yes, but from the inside out. There's a box section around the inside of the roof joint that's abysmally badly corrosion-protected, and untrimmed on the inside of the car - so gets condensation inside.

Outside, it's a much smoother joint than it looks.

I think it depends on which version / date; on the riveted alloy roofed 6's - it's not so bad, in fact mine's pretty damn clean - a little above the front near side - but that's more the box section not the actual join...

i will stand corrected

Ah, I was trying to remember about 6 estates. Thought that was the case. 6 saloons are GRP roofs.

All 8s - saloon & estate - have welded steel roofs.

cool - but i think late '68 and all '69 Ami 6 Break roofs are welded steel - i've seen some H reg '69 Ami 6's with quite flaky roof lines....

A posts and rear wings are the real bastards....if someone has a mould or pattern for Ami A posts....i've love to know about it....

but - to summarise - good work Spanners ;)

Timmy had my spare 8 bulkhead - dunno what happened to it from thereon in - it wasn't great, but the A-pillars would have been useful for patterns. Probably.
