yes because there is only one wire for each and it splits just after the spur for the alternator

Hmm i kept it simple on an 86 special i had - i just whacked halogens straight in without any mods ,or knowledge of any need for any .. i didn't have any grief ,mind you it didn't do regular night driving but certainly a few long stints in the dark , i wonder if the new owner will or has ended up with a melted switch

relays are arriving at the end of the week, so im going to be fitting them, where do you suggest i wire them in, near the battery, or at the headlamp bar end?
if i do it at the battery end, which wires is it, as theres millions to choose from adn i dont want to be cutting and re conncetiong 10 wires before i find the right one, (unless there is no other way?)

NO don't do that, I think you just have to peal away the loom wrapping in places until you can follow the wires from one end.

If you had a loom with dim-dip you'd have wires for both dip and main already there on the bulkhead, as well as a pair of relays.

ive really really neatly re taped the loom up, with elec tape, (admitedly its not black, its green and yellow, so earth cooured tape) but it looks quite cool, plus i could see if it was burning through (caused by exhaust or something) but never mind, ill un tape it

i geuss ill simply un plug the different wires till i find the right ones? or are the sensibly colour coded? and is there two wires for each beam if that makes sense?

Insulation tape isn't really good for that job anyway. The oil/petrol/heat or whatever just turns the glue in to a runny sticky mess and it will unravel in time. You need some proper loom tape, that stuff that bonds to itself (self-amalgamating??).

Anyone got any experience of the plastic tubing used in cars today? Any reason that would be a no-no?

i thought it was simply electric tape?? as emalgurating tape is a bitch to get off (personally ive found this) once it bonds?

why couldnt they colour code everything?!
the other loom i have, i bought at l 2 b for a quid, every single wire is numbered, if only i knew what the numbering was!
