Are you sure you really need to change the lot? Would you not be better to replace the damaged section?

thats a good suggestion, but a few wires melted through cos of the heat, so i dont know how long till it becomes a hazard

and i may as well change it over, then dim dip will be no more :D:D:D

Post Re: changing the loom over
righty oh, so ive been out to the car to take not of placesw of certain wiring etc, and it looks fairly complicated, but i dont think it should be to hard..

so looking behind the dash, there are a few rudendt wire, ive decided to put black tape round these, ,

ive not taken many photos as its poor light, and crap quality, but ive written up the colours etc of the wires and connectors, and i will post on here when ive completed and documented it ;)
the more i look at it the more im tempted not to bother, but i need to really

the only bit that looks scary is the bit by the voltage reg, etc, and also where the wire goes thgouth the bulkhead on the right (as you face from front to back of car) i assume that stays there and simply plugs in..

also can i re use the fuse boxes, or shall i use the new one connected to the loom?
how are they connected to the bulkhead?

there are a few bits where i recon i can get away with simply connectiong the new loom in..

also does the starter form part of the loom? i meant to look at that bit but didnt get a chance..
anyway post and pics to follow in a minute

it all kind of falls back in to place, tag each wire as it comes off with masking tape and write on it

voltage reg is a one way plug stuffing it all back in to the binnacle is the difficult bit

yes the sartrer is in the loom as the charging circut goes to the terminal on the back of it then off to the battery, the electricity flowing one way then the other

James, I'm not being funny but... try it tomorrow, if it doesn't all become clear, ask then...

I'm betting you find a (purple/yellow??) wire attached to the back of the fuel gauge and you'll write fuel gauge on it. Then you'll find its match on the new loom and plug it in. Why worry?

so upon matching the loom rythm thief sent me, it doesnt look to bad, the only bit thats got me, is by the ignition abrel, there is a small silver thingy, and a black thing cable tied to it, i can only find 2 connections to this, what are those things?
the silver thing looks imilar to the dim dip resister on the front of the chassis...
