Seat belt sill thread pitch / size?
I've got some new belts to go into my drummer 2cv, but the bolts just don't want to go in. Anyone any idea the thread pitch and size that the holes should be? Strangely, none of my seat belt bolts (from the new set, or old ones) want to screw into what I think are the original sills.
Cheers, Ben

Ben, the vast majority of seat belt anchorages use 7/16" UNF threads. Unfortunately, it seems that some of the replacement sills produced in Argentina were fitted with M12 coarse captive nuts, then were changed for M12 fine, which isn't just a nuisance but was bl**dy dangerous as the original bolts will run in the M12 fine thread. However, they don't grip, which (partly) explains why I once found a seat belt bolt held in with seam sealer. ken meshking wrote: I've got some new belts to go into my drummer 2cv, but the bolts just don't want to go in. Re: Seat belt sill thread pitch / size?
Thanks Ken - It's certainly possible that the sills were changed at some point, I'll try getting hold of some M10 coarse and fine bolts to see what the threads might be.

Ben, just been out to the shed to check and the sizes were M12, not M10... meshking wrote: Thanks Ken - It's certainly possible that the sills were changed at some point, I'll try getting hold of some M10 coarse and fine bolts to see what the threads might be.

You need 12 mm x 1.75 mm bolts. Problems is that the bolts won't slide through the seat belt holes and spacers but a file will take of that.

Cheers Viking. Happened to be in local DIY store and picked up an M12 bolt just as a test - seems waaay too big. I'll try an M10, just for giggles.
