Post Re: spare set of keys
I dunno if Citroen Main Dealers still do it .....but some years ago I lost the only keys I had to an old Visa.
I had to produce my driving licence & passport [proof of identity] and logbook for the car [proof of ownership] and the dealer then contacted Citroen [I dunno if it was Citroen France or Citroen UK] .....who then looked up on their Factory records as to what key/lock numbers my car was originally fitted with .....it took about three days for a new set of keys to arrive.
Obviously, this aint gonna work if the car has been "molested" at some time in its history ....[like having new door/ignition locks fitted for some reason] .....I doubt if the filler cap is original[AFAIK,a locking filler cap was'nt an option] ....so one should be cuttable.
I guess your other option is to buy a new set of Original Equipment locks from one of our favourite parts suppliers .....that way you'll get two sets of matching keys .....all new & shiny :geek: :ugeek:

Go and ask your local High St locksmith/shoe-repair/Mr.Minit-type place. They'll tell you if they've got the blanks or not.

It's if you lose the only set that you've got problems.

Timpson on South Street did mine for me James. They had to order the blank key in specially - I think I paid £8 for 3, but that was 4 years ago.

Even when I lived in the UK I never locked mine. Never left anything worth nicking in it. Lets face it a quick slash with a Stanley knife will gain access quite easily.

Rather folk open the door to find nothing than slash the roof to find the same, nothing.

That presumes that these people bother trying the door first. They don't. When I had the orange Mehari, the doors had no locks. No key holes in the door handles. No tailgate upper, either - so it was fairly obvious it wasn't "secure".

Did that stop them slashing the roof to nick the tax disc? No.

Did they just peel the tape off the slash when they nicked the tax disc again, after the one they stole last time expired? No, they just slashed it again.
