Post pin hole in toe board
my toe board is very rusty.

it has a very small pin hole, but i know its a developing whole so i know ineed to do something about it.

is it possible to replace the toe board without taking the shell of and out?

if you cut it out and welded new one in?
ir is it worth doing a tempory bodge every now and again until i have the shell of for my exspectant chassis change?

by very rusty, i dont mean not an inch where its not rusty, its just got patches of rust, with one tiny pin hole,

so just after some opinions :)

Dunno much about it really but you don't have to lift the shell to put new floor bits in. If it were me I'd just do abit of a bodge until you have the shell off then replace the bits that need doing properly then.

oh ithought you had to take shell of to do floors too? i would of replaced them when i got a hole as it would of been cheaper (to an extent) i may get some zinc floors put in in the near future then, if toe board can be done with shell on!

You can put new floors in as well as a new toeboard but if you are planning to carry out a chassis change, I'd wait until then as it'll probably be easier to carry out the floor work in one go with the body off & upside down.

You can tell a failing chassis by crawling underneath the car and looking at it. If it is failing you'll see holes in the bottom plate, you'll see the seams at the sides starting to swell with rust and once they start to bend you'll see bulges in the sides of the chassis near the steering rack.

The steering getting stiff happens when the chassis actually bends significantly. Once it gets sufficiently weak they bend by the rack.

The toeboard provides a lot of strength for the front of the body - so if that starts to rust then you'll need to provide some extra strength to the body whilst you weld in new toeboards and floors. Of course, much easier done off the chassis but it's possible to do it in situ.
