mr rythm thief kindly sent me a loom in the post today, (thank you very much!)

and it is pre dim dip i believe as i cant see any sign of connectors for the relays or resister thingy,

can i simply put this loom on and dim dip be no more? or is there anything more complicated to it, as i see one small connector thing, with three gray wires, where i exspect the 2 for dim dip relays, to come out,

so my question is can i plonk this loom in and laugh at dim dip, or is there something more to it (like relays etc)

isn't the connector block with 3 terminals the one for the voltage regulator?

When swapping the looms over, some ideas which might help...

Label everything , or as much as possible.
'Bundle' sets of wires which go to the same location.
Take plenty of digital photographs of how the wires are routed.
Finally, when everything's hooked up, fit a lead with a 16amp fuse between the battery post and the battery positive lead, then test everything except the starter.
If you've hooked something up incorrectly and it wasn't on a fused circuit, that will provide some protection...

i see, good idea ken, my plan was to replace each wire as i took it off with the new one

the 3 block thing could be fo the regulator, didnt think about that!!

so not having the two other blocks or connector for resister, do i just plonk it on and wave good bye to dim dip? and it work?

Before fitting the loom through the firewall see if the dash switches are the same as yours. The Club and Speciel are not the same regarding the switches.
Some 2CV Speciel has round others rectangular.

Now thats a good tip worth remembering.

well it came out of a charlston (i believe) and mine has square switches

my main concern is about dim dip, cos i need to get this loom in, and dont wanna fuck it up!

if the loom that's been donated to you doesn't have the sockets for dim-dip relays or the rubber-covered socket for the resistor or the diode near the steering column which only the dim-dip looms used, what's your guess as to whether or not it's a 'dim-dip' type?

Pick one of the two available choices, since that's how things seem to work these days...

no i know its not a dim dip loom, what im saying is, the fact that it isnt a dim dip loom, it wont cause any problems? im just trying to make sure before i blow the car up!!!!

James, I can assure you that fitting a non dim-dip loom will cause you a whole lot less grief than fitting the "correct" dim-dip equipped loom would.

Or, to put it another way (nice and simple) the fact that it isn't a dim-dip loom will not cause you any problems and the loom will not make the car blow up.

However, I can't promise that the person fitting the loom won't create a problem which may cause the car to slowly smoulder away.........

Personally, I'd be looking at skiving that day off work, coming to the National and having Bertie repair the old loom like he offered-his repair would be infinately better than the original IMHO.
