I don't know if I'm going to keep that patina... And as I'm already a sinner, I'm doomed to hell anyway !
The answer for the rear wing that hasn't rusted is that my father had it repainted after a minor incident and the paint is just not the same.
For the rest, I wish you were right, Sean, that what you mention would be the only things to do...

Please do! It's impossible to fake - and it just looks so _right_ on a 2cv, especially an oldie. Shiny-shiny just does not do it for me.

'course, it's your car...

A gentle rub with a scotchbrite pad to remove the flaky bits, degrease the surface, then spray it with a matt lacquer to prevent further rusting - perfect! :D

8-)

(Steph, check out http://www.super2cv.com)

But each to their own thing of course :D Don't know what Mrs Steph would think about the patina eh? I think Steph was thinking about a useable/used condition finished item, not a concours resto for the car?

There appears to be a new trend in Euro keeping the rough look. I like it, looks ''original''

Welcome to the forum, Stephane! :)

Glad that you've joined up & we'd certainly appreciate updates from time to time to see how the resurrection is coming along.

I'm certainly firmly in the 'keep as is' camp with regards to to the bodywork - don't get me wrong, shiny cars are lovely, but that patina tells a story & it seems a shame for that to be lost.

Things are going fine here. I've found a barn in my village, about 200m from home, that will host my 2cv for the coming months. There's even a workbench and a pit ! Great !
The car should arrive next Wednesday. When it's there, I will take some photos to show you the car in its new house. Meanwhile, I'm browsing the internet to read the advice given.

As regards the rust dilemma, it's good to have different points of view. I still haven't completely made up my mind, we'll see...

Uhuuu......I love it Steph.

It looks like it is in at very good condition, a part from the surface rust.
Like Neil, 2cviking, toomany2cvs and many others, I'm also belonging on the "keep-as-is" team. I fell for the trend after at quick restoration of my low budget Dyane, Andrea. All my other cars, are as shiny as my wallet allows, but I like the new trend, that cars not necessarily must look like they just rolled of the assembly line.

But when you have washed off the dirt, you can better decide, if the patina suits the car or not......in the end it's your car

Right, my car is now in its new place where the resurrection will start soon. Since Chris's first message was to get information, he posted it in this part of the forum. From now on, I will rather tell you about the work done. That's why I open a new topic in the "A-series" part : AZA 64, back-on-the-road project. See you there.
